Budapest [Hungary], Oct 23 (NT): Star Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia settled for a silver medal at the ongoing World Championship after having defeat by Takuto Otoguro of Japan in the men's 65 kg freestyle category here on Monday.

Punia suffered an appalling 9-16 crush at the hands of Japanese teenager to fail to spot the top podium finish in the event. Otugara, with the win, became the youngest Japanese to seal gold medal at the World Championship.

For the Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia, the silver medal is his second at the high-status tournament. Earlier, he had clinched a bronze medal in the 2013 edition of the event.

The Indian wrestler dedicated his silver medal to the victims of a terrible train accident in Amritsar. Taking to his official Twitter handle, He wrote about the same.

'I want to dedicate this silver medal at World Wrestling Championships to the people died in the tragic Amritsar train accident. My deep condolences to their families," he  tweeted.

Punia has had a remarkable year so far with two gold medals. He clinched one at 2018 Commonwealth Games and other at 2018 Asian Games.

Sushil Kumar, the only gold medal winner in the world championship, for India. Two-time Olympic medal wrestler had captured gold in the 2010 championship held in Moscow.
