The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated every year on 3 December and since 1992 it has been promoted as an international custom by the United Nations. To eradicate social stigma towards the disabled and to improve their way of life by implementing a lot of support in their real life and to promote them as well as to promote awareness of people with disabilities. For celebrating this year, this day is given special importance. Since 1992, it has been celebrated continuously every year till this year with a lot of success all over the world.

It is said that the purpose of this day's celebration is to improve the whole world understanding towards the issue of disability along with improving their self-esteem, health and rights in the society and being together to help them. It is also seen to include all the disabled people in the society in every aspect of life such as political, economic, social and cultural. For this reason, it is celebrated under the title of "World Disabled Day". The celebration of World Disabled Day focuses on different issues of people with disabilities throughout the world every year.

According to the sources, the year 1981 was declared as "International Year of Persons with Disabilities" by the United Nations General Assembly in the year 1976. At the international, national and regional level, plans were made to emphasize revival, prevention, publicity and equality opportunities for the disabled. In order to make people aware of the rights of disabled people for the development of their equality in society, just like ordinary citizens, to pay attention to their health and to improve their socio-economic status, the theme of "Full participation and Equality" was set for the celebration of the International Year of Persons with Disabilities.

Most people do not even know how many people in society around their house are disabled. Whether they are getting equal rights in society or not. They need some help from ordinary people to get good health and respect and to get ahead in life. Usually, people in society do not know all their needs. According to statistics, it has been found that around 15% of the people of the world are disabled. Therefore, it is very important to celebrate this festival to make people aware of the actual condition of the disabled. Disabled people fall under the "world's largest minority" and face a lot of obstacles in all aspects of life due to a lack of appropriate resources and rights for them.
