World Economic Forum in Davos: Modi and Trump to hold bilateral talks

NEW DELHI: US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are likely to hold separate talks on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos later this month on Wednesday as per sources said.

Trump and Modi's presence at Davos convenes believes great consequences, as the former would be the first US president to be present at an annual gathering of global economic leaders in 18 years, while the latter would be the first Indian PM to attend the mega event since 1997.

on Tuesday The White House confirmed that Trump will take his populist message directly to the world`s business and financial cream of the crop who will register their presence at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Trump -- who ran for president on a nationalist "America First" platform -- will come together at the annual Alpine carnival of globalism in Switzerland, and possibly offer a few outlooks of his own.

Not only, is Trump’s involvement, but PM Modi’s pronouncement to be a part of the event catching attention.

PM Modi is scheduled to deliver his address at the plenary session of the high-status global business convene, Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu declared on Tuesday.

 According to the Commerce Ministry, WEF 2018, to be held over January 23-26, will be marked the presence of 350 political leaders, together with over 60 heads of state or government, and CEOs of the world's foremost companies.

As Modi is scheduled to address the inaugural plenary session on January 23, he is to be followed by a remarkable array of Indian ministers who will participate in different group sessions.

Apart from Suresh Prabhu  Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal and Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as well as the respective Ministers of State in the PMO Jitendra Singh and for the External Affairs Ministry M.J. Akbar, a Commerce Ministry will present in the global meet.
