PANAJI: Goa Governor P.S Sreedharan Pillai chaired an event on the occasion of World Elders Day and distributed various kinds of equipment to the needy on Sunday. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) hosted the event in Raj Bhavan.

This year's event had the topic "Care for the Elderly." "Aj Bhawan works on welfare programmes for the less fortunate members of society. On September 17, a "Vamana Vrukhsha Kala Udyan" was established in Goa Raj Bhavan in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first time ever in India, continued Pillai.

Speaking about the Vamana Vrukhsha's significance, he added, "From time immemorial, which means little Vruksha in a pot that was part of our system, there were there at that time 15,000 species that were used in Ayurveda."

He said, "If we emphasise and explore the relevance of Bonsai, it would undoubtedly give beneficial results for the country," despite the fact that China has been exporting a lot of bonsai plants.

The Indian Medical Association provided elderly care facilities for the underprivileged with wheelchairs and walkers.
