New Delhi: The elephant is considered to be the cutest and most huge animal found on earth. You all must know that the elephant was always a symbol of majestic glamour and at the same time, it was also included in the procession from war to the cortege. Let us tell you that the elephant is considered to be one of the most peaceful animals and the purpose of "World Elephant Day" celebrated every year on 12 August is to draw people's attention to the reasons for the disappearing number of elephants. Along with this, measures for their protection, rehabilitation, better health awareness and motivate them to make efforts toward stopping illegal trafficking.

Now today is World Elephant Day and Prime Minister Modi tweeted reiterating his commitment to World Elephant Day. Yes, PM Modi said 'You will be happy to know that India has about 60% of all Asian elephants. The number of elephant reserves has increased in the last 8 years. I also appreciate all the people who protect the elephants.'

Let us tell you that it was initiated by the Sims and Elephant Key Introduction Foundation in the year 2011 but it was officially announced and celebrated on August 12, 2012. In fact, the purpose of 'World Elephant Day', celebrated on 12 August every year, is to draw people's attention to the disappearing number of elephants, and its reasons.
