World Elephant Day is celebrated on 12 August every year to raise awareness about the urgent plight of elephants and finding out the ways to protect them. Today, this big creature in the verge of extinction as only two species of elephants is left now. Various fossils found in the world reveal that there were about 170 species of elephants 5 million years ago. These fossils have been found in all continents except Australia and Antarctica.
