World Fair Trade Day is an annual event that is celebrated on the second Saturday of May each year. The date of World Fair Trade Day in 2023 is May 13. The World Fair Trade Organisation created the day with the intention of promoting fair trade and inspiring people to select fair trade products whenever possible.  It is a global event that aims to raise awareness about the importance of fair trade and to promote fair trade products.

Fair trade is a movement that seeks to promote social and economic justice for marginalized producers and workers, particularly in developing countries. It promotes fair wages, safe working conditions, and sustainable farming practices.

World Fair Trade Day was first observed in 2001 and has since grown into a global celebration. The day is marked by various events and activities, such as fairs, markets, and exhibitions, where fair trade products are showcased and sold.

The event is organized by the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) and its members, which include fair trade producers, traders, and retailers from around the world. The WFTO is committed to promoting fair trade as a tool for sustainable development and poverty reduction.

On World Fair Trade Day, people are encouraged to support fair trade by purchasing fair trade products and spreading awareness about the importance of fair trade. By doing so, we can help to create a more just and equitable world for all.

A trading partnership known as "fair trade" upholds the human rights of all parties, pays fairly for goods and services sourced sustainably, and supports efforts to combat the economic crisis, poverty, gender inequality, and climate change.

Numerous activities are going place to commemorate World Fair Trade Day. These consist of conferences, gatherings, and a photographic competition.
