World Food Day is observed every year on the day of the foundation day of the United Nations (UN) Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) all over the world. The purpose of celebrating this day celebrated on October 16 every year, is to tackle the problem of hunger in the world and provide food security to the world, thereby eliminating hunger from all over the world. The day is celebrated in two ways, firstly, on this day the world's best food is encouraged, but it is also celebrated to promote efforts to tackle food shortages in the world.

A lot of organizations work to celebrate this day. But this year, the Food and Agriculture Organization of UN, the United Nations Human Rights Commission, the United Nations Refugee Agency and the World Food Program are celebrating together. These organizations are celebrating Food Day this year under the title "Celebrate efforts to strengthen the local food system for the displaced and host community." The World Food Program was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020. This honour was given to him for his efforts to fight hunger, contribute peace to controversies and conflicts. The biggest achievement of this program has been that it has once successfully prevented hunger from being used as a weapon in war and conflict.

Economic inequality is quite high in the world at the moment. But there are also geographical, climate, political reasons that make the problem of food production and availability of food very serious among the people. The effects of climate change in recent years have also aggravated the problem of hunger and food security. People are forced to flee from many places, making them refugees and struggling with food problems. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, 40 per cent of the world's population is deprived of healthy food. Today this number is more than three billion. That's where one-third of the world's food, which is about a trillion dollars, goes waste. According to the United Nations, 820 million people suffer from hunger in the world.
