New Delhi: The second wave of corona in the country has now slowed down slightly. More than 55 crore single or double doses of the corona vaccine have been administered. Amidst all this, a big update has emerged from the World Health Organization (WHO) for India. Chief scientist Soumya Viswanathan says covid-19 in India can now go to the endemic stage. This means that the nature of the spread of the virus can now be local, while a large part of the population in a pandemic is caught by the virus. At the same time, he said that with ups and downs, corona cases will be seen in different parts of India.

According to media reports, Soumya Swaminathan said that due to differences in the size and nature of the population of India, the immunity against the virus is also different. We can go to a stage where the rate of spread of infection will be low or moderate. At the moment, the virus seems unlikely to spread rapidly, as we all saw a few months ago. He said that by the end of 2022, India will achieve great success in the case of vaccination, after 70 percent of the people are fully vaccinated, India will return to normalcy.

Regarding the third wave of the corona, he said that it is not a crystal ball that can be said in a firm manner. At the moment, it is difficult to say when the third wave of corona will come. However, keeping in mind some factors, you can only guess. On booster doses, he said that if we look at it scientifically or morally, it is not right to run after it, so it depends on different countries which have too many doses.
