World Osteoporosis Day 2020: Today is 20 October and today is celebrated as World Osteoporosis Day. Osteoporosis is a type of disease. Osteoporosis is a word derived from the Latin language and its original meaning is 'Porous bones'. It is said that as age increases, the flexibility of bones decreases and the gap between them starts increasing. After menopause, the bones start to weaken and besides this, the bones get affected due to genetic reasons. The condition of bones gets worse after the age of 30 and it becomes difficult to heal them. This is called osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a bone disease that increases the risk of fractures. Osteoporosis patients should exercise. Also start brisk walking. Brisk walking is the preferred weight gain exercise for osteoporosis unless there is a contraindication (eg heart conditions, lower extremity arthritis). Patients with osteoporosis should do light aerobic exercise because high-impact aerobic exercises put a lot of stress on the already weak bone and should avoid it. Osteoporosis patients should include a high calcium diet.
