World Sleep Day 2021: Theme and Significance

World Sleep Day is celebrated on Friday, March 19, 2021 before the Spring Equinox every year, Countries across the world hold various events on sleep and tries to make people aware of its importance. 

World Sleep Day is an annual event, intended to be a celebration of sleep and a call to action on important issues related to sleep, including medicine, education, social aspects and driving.

It is organized by the World Sleep Day Committee of World Sleep Society and aims to lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management of sleep disorders. World Sleep Day is held the Friday before Spring Vernal Equinox of each year.

World Sleep Day focuses on sleep-related issues, sleep awareness and education and helps people who are sleep deprived. A large number of people across the world - both in urban and rural areas - suffer from sleep deprivation every day and it can vary from mild to severe. 

The slogan for the 14th annual World Sleep Day is ‘Regular Sleep, Healthy Future.’  World Sleep Day is a call to all sleep professionals to advocate and educate the world about the importance of sleep for achieving an optimal quality of life and improve global health.
