Yes, its true we celebrate World Water Day on 22nd March.
So let's take a tour to know what World Water Day is and on what grounds we celebrate this day.

World Water Day is celebrated on 22nd March every year. This day is all about focusing attention on the importance of water. Due to the damage to the ecosystems, it affects the amount and condition of water accessible for human consumption.

Today, 2.1 billion people live with drinking dirty water which can affect their life in various ways like their health, education, and livelihoods.

This year the theme for World Water Day 2018 is ‘Nature for Water’ which initiates to explore nature-based resolutions to the water trials we face in the 21st century.

Sustainable Development Goals 6 commits into the world to ensure that everyone has access to safe water by 2030, and holds targets for protecting the natural environment and reducing pollution.

This year the World Water Day turns 25 today. It day highlights the sustainable control of freshwater resources. World Water Day is celebrated around the world with a variety of events. These can be educational, theatrical, musical or be lobbying in nature. The day can also include campaigns to raise money for water projects. The first World Water Day, designated by the United Nations, was commemorated in 1993.

Nature-based solutions have the potential to solve many of our water challenges. We need to do so much more with ‘green’ foundation and adapt it with ‘grey’ support wherever possible.

Planting new forests, reconnecting rivers to floodplains, and restoring wetlands will rebalance the water cycle and improve human health and livelihoods.
