Aurangabad: One of the world's most expensive vegetables has started cultivation in the Aurangabad district of Bihar. The name of the vegetable is 'Hop Shoots,' which was priced around Rs 1 lakh in the global market six years ago. Amaresh Singh, a resident of Karamdi in Aurangabad, who is a farmer by profession, has started trial farming on 5 Kantha land under the supervision of Dr. Lal, an agricultural scientist from Indian Vegetable Research Institute, Varanasi.
Let's say that two months ago, he planted the plant, which is now gradually growing. Along with the plant, Amaresh's hopes are growing and encouraging. As Amaresh says, hop shoots are used to make beer and antibiotics. It also proves to be very effective in the treatment of TV.
According to Amaresh, its flowers are also used for making beer. The price of a kilo hop shoot is around 1,000 euros or Rs 82,000 in the global market. It is a vegetable that is usually not visible in the market. It is grown on order. The Government of India is conducting a scientific study on this vegetable cultivation these days.
