The ICC world Cup 2019 is around the corner and the countries have annonced their team. West Indies also announced their 15-man squad for the Cricket World Cup on Wednesday with Jason Holder set to lead the team for the tournament in England and Wales. Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine were not picked in the squad despite impressing in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Even though he wasn’t picked in the preliminary squad, Narine was still thankful to the selectors for considering him despite not playing for West Indies for a considerable time.

Sunil told ESPNcricinfo, "I'm really happy that the selectors considered me. “ He further said, "It shows they have faith in me. I haven't played international cricket in so long and this shows how much they want me to come back. It was good to have some conversations with them and I feel we're all on the same page going forward."

Narine further said, "I would have loved to play in the World Cup," he said. "I have missed international cricket and I've missed representing West Indies. It's where my heart lies.

Currently, Narine is playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing IPL and has been one of the best players in the league for the past few years.
