New Delhi: Wrestlers, who have been protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi since January 18, 2023, called off their sit-in late Friday night after they got assurance from the government that their grievances would be addressed. Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who came under blaze from the players before their grievances were addressed, is being stripped of the responsibilities of the president's post.

Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, and Ravi Dahiya, among others, have decided to end their sit-in protest after the deadlock was resolved in the second round of talks with Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. The wrestlers had accused the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and its president of sexual harassment and corruption. The wrestlers had a five-hour-long meeting with Sports Minister Anurag Thakur at his residence.

After this meeting, Anurag Thakur has told that 'It has been decided to form a monitoring committee, the names of its members will be announced on Saturday 21 January. The committee will complete the investigation in four weeks. They will thoroughly investigate all allegations of financial or sexual harassment against the WFI and its president. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh will remain separate from the WFI till the investigation is completed and will cooperate with the investigation, while the day-to-day work of the WFI will be looked after by the monitoring committee.'
