GENEVA: The four-day WTO ministerial conference, which was scheduled to end on Wednesday, is expected to be extended by one day since member countries have yet to reach an agreement on various topics, according to sources.
According to them, the World Trade Organization's (WTO) Director-General has suggested that the ministerial conference be extended by one day.

The organization's member countries have assembled here to finalise an agreement on subsidy discipline to promote sustainable fishing, as well as a package in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

India has expressed its dissatisfaction with the lack of progress in finding a lasting solution to the issue of public grain stockpiles for food security programmes, stressing that one cannot trade on an empty stomach.

It has also expressed concern about how some developed countries are nitpicking on the WTO's request for a patent waiver to deal with the Covid epidemic.

India warned on Tuesday that countries that accept the idea are getting a "half-baked" pact that will prevent them from producing vaccinations.

The Indian delegation is led by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.
