Yamaha has revealed two of its upcoming electric two-wheelers, taking a step forward into the future of transportation. The Neo's electric scooter will be the first of these to roll off the production line and into showrooms.

The Neo's is a 50cc petrol-powered scooter that offers similar performance. It's based on the brand's E02 concept, which debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2019. For the uninformed, Yamaha already sells a 50cc ICE scooter called Neo's in a few international markets.

Although the Neo's peak speed will be enough for urban commuting, the list of features and style are both appealing and young. It is powered by a swappable lithium-ion battery pack and operates on a hub-mounted electric motor. Since signing a partnership with KTM, Piaggio, and Honda last year, Yamaha might be working on putting up battery switching facilities.

The Yamaha Neo electric scooter will be available at dealerships throughout the world in the coming months. Furthermore, with major brands such as Suzuki and Hero preparing to enter the electric vehicle market in India, Yamaha will not be far behind.
