The operation of all automobile companies in the country was temporarily stopped due to lockdown and coronavirus. Later, after getting the exemption by the government, the companies started operations again. Meanwhile, during lockdown 4.0, the country's famous two-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha has now announced that it is starting operations at its Tamil Nadu plant again.

Yamaha Motor India has started operations on May 5, 2020, after getting permission from the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management of Kanchipuram district. The company is following guidelines related to social distancing and cleanliness for the safety of its employees, which were shared with employees before resuming operations. In compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) issued by the authorities, the company is only undertaking the required tasks. Apart from this, Yamaha is also constantly investigating sanitization. Optional seating arrangement, virtual meeting and time in plant canteen have been separated. Meanwhile, work has resumed at the Chennai Head Office of Yamaha. For the time being, the emphasis will be on work from home for most employees.

Yamaha has opened 50 percent of its dealerships across the country. The company's outlets are ready for sales and service. During this time necessary precautionary measures are being taken at showrooms, workshops and spare parts counters to ensure the safety of employees and customers. Yamaha India has Surajpur in Uttar Pradesh and Faridabad manufacturing plants in Haryana which are closed. Yamaha says that to resume work at these places too, the government will follow the guidelines. Other dealerships will also be opened across the country.
