After scoring another 191 runs in seven Vijay Hazare games the year before, Yash Dhull had a miserable second Ranji season in which he scored 270 runs in six games.

Talented Yash Dhull received a huge boost on Tuesday after being selected captain of the India A side for the Emerging Asia Cup One Day event in Sri Lanka from July 13 to 23. Dhull had been overlooked for the Duleep Trophy following a dismal first-class season. The team was predominantly made up of U-23 players, as required for the Emerging competitions, while Punjab Ranji captain Abhishek Sharma would serve as Dhull's backup.

All of the chosen athletes have competed for their senior state teams in one of the three forms, and some, like Prabhsimran Singh, have already reached the century mark in the IPL. Prabhsimran and Dhruv Jurel, who made an impact as a finisher in the little opportunities he received as a Rajasthan Royals "Impact Player," will share the keeping gloves.

Harshit Rana, a Delhi pace bowling all-rounder, was a wise choice because of his impressive speed during the IPL. On his Duleep Trophy debut, he recently got his first first-class hundred. Dhull, the captain of the India team that won the 2022 U-19 World Cup, had a poor second Ranji season, scoring 270 runs in six games, and prior to that, another 191 runs in seven Vijay Hazare games.

However, it is thought that the senior selection committee didn't want the 20-year-old Delhi Capitals batter to simply vanish from consideration for national selection because it also considers a player's long-term talent and potential. Similar things may be said for Riyan Parag of Assam, who flattered to deceive after being handed multiple opportunities by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, but selectors are just looking at quality. The selectors have also recognized domestic stars like Kerala's Nikin Jose, Haryana's Nishant Sindhu, Tamil Nadu's Pradosh Ranjan Paul, and the most promising talent of them all — B Sai Sudharsan. Dhull's deputy Abhishek has been in fantastic form for both Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

With bowlers who can reach 135 and 140 clicks, the emphasis has been more on pace when it comes to fast bowlers. As a result, Rajvardhan Hangargekar from Maharashtra, Akash Singh from CSK, a left-armer from Jharkhand, and Rana have made the team.

India A are placed in Group B with Nepal, UAE A and Pakistan A, while Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A and Oman A form Group A. Nepal's senior team will compete in the competition. Each group's top two teams will send one team to the semifinals. On July 21, the winner of Group A will face the runner-up from Group B in the first semi-final, while the winner of Group B will face the runner-up from Group A in the second semi-final. On July 23, the final will take place.
