Year 2023 Recap: Over 50 Million Ayushman Bharat Accounts Created in Health Drive

NEW DELHI: The government announced that more than 44 million Ayushman cards have been issued, allowing families to access free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh annually at approved hospitals. Additionally, the Union Health Ministry reported the creation of over 500 million Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) as part of the ongoing Ayushman Bhava campaign. These statistics reflect data up to December 28.

During the Ayushman Bhava campaign, a total of 138 lakh health fairs saw a cumulative footfall of over 110 million individuals, including visits to Ayushman Arogya Mandir Melas and Community Health Centre Melas.

These fairs encompassed wellness sessions, yoga, meditation practices, and over 1.02 million teleconsultations. Furthermore, around 64 million people received free medications, while 51 million received complimentary diagnostic services.

The campaign also extended Ayush services to approximately 7.4 million individuals and provided lifestyle counseling to over 109.9 million people. Moreover, 4.5 million expectant mothers registered in their first trimester, completed the initial absolute neutrophil count (ANC) checkup, and received immunizations. Additionally, immunizations were administered to approximately 2.9 million mothers and 4.9 million children.

Screening initiatives for seven health concerns, including tuberculosis, hypertension, diabetes, oral cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, and cataracts, were conducted for 189 million individuals.

Community Health Centre Melas witnessed registrations from 154.4 million individuals. Over 110 million patients sought consultations at general OPDs, while 49.7 million patients consulted specialist OPDs. The initiative also facilitated 38,309 major surgeries and 130,760 minor surgeries by December 28.
