BENGALURU: The BJP leadership has chosen to be cautious over former Chief minter  BS Yediyurappa’s announcement of touring Karnataka, in an apparent bid to salvage his image after being replaced from the top post.

While the 78-year-old, still sore at being asked to step down from the CM post, has announced that his tour is to galvanise the party ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections, senior party leaders are worried that the former –Chief Minster may end up creating a parallel centre of power. Never comfortable at being pushed away from the limelight or power, Yediyurappa is reportedly keen to show the party leadership that he is still a force to reckon with. He has already hinted that he is here in politics for a long haul despite his age and that he has another 10 years ahead of him in playing hardball politics. The state BJP core committee, the highest decision-making body of the party's Karnataka unit, has taken a cautious approach, not wanting to upset BSY. The committee has reportedly given a green signal to the former CM's proposed state tour but with some riders. At the committee meeting held in Davanagere recently, it was decided that Yediyurappa will not be allowed to corner all the glory. Instead, he has been asked to involve all senior BJP functionaries in the tour to ensure it's a party event and not Yediyurappa's individual chest-thumping show.
