Paris: Paris is on high alert Saturday with key security measures in place ahead of current "yellow vest" protests which authorities fear could turn aggressive for a second weekend in a row. Reports uggested that shops, museums, metro stations and the Tour Eiffel were due to shut down. Top-flight football matches and music shows were called off .The French capital experienced its most horrible rebellion in decades last weekend, in scenes that trembled the nation and plunged President Emmanuel Macron's government into its sincere crisis so far.

On the heated issue France's interior minister Christophe Castaner stated he likely "only a few thousand people" to move down on the capital after the 8,000 protesters appeared in counting last weekend, "but among them are ultraviolent individuals".

"These past three weeks have seen the birth of a monster that has escaped its creators," he stated . He added that a "large-scale" security operation would be launched Saturday.

He also pledged "zero tolerance" towards those aiming to cause further annihilation and chaos, after dozens of vehicles were torched and several shops were looted . Besides this  the Arc de Triomphe war memorial was wrecked last Saturday.
