New York: A new researcher on the loss of teeth has revealed the loss of teeth is linked to increase risk for cognitive impairment and in adults is dementia.The research showed that, individuals with less than 20 teeth were at a 20 % more risk for developing cognitive decline and for dementia there are equal or more than 20.

The hike of cognitive impairment and its pathologic correlates, like dementia and Alzheimer's disease, is hiking in aging populations and creating a important burden on health systems.

The research shows an association between tooth loss and reduced cognitive function in adults was directed by the IAADR( International and American Associations for Dental Research)

The study, published in the journal JDR Clinical & Translational Research.
