Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is all set to build godowns across the state for the storage of foodgrains to increase farmers' income. The center has sealed the plan to build 5000 storage godowns in the first phase. The land will be selected soon and at the same time, the state government will start construction of grain storage godowns in the villages.

Now, the farmers will not have to go away to keep their grains. Earlier, the farmers had to sell the crop at a lower price due to the compulsion of crop failure, but now it will not happen. According to reports, the scheme for construction of this grain storage godown is likely to cost about Rs 2500 crore. It is said that the total storage capacity of all these godowns is about 8. It will be 60 lakh metric tonnes and the government will also be able to store the grains procured at the local level along with the farmers' grains in these godowns.

The Yogi Government is also preparing to link the scheme of grain storage godown with employment in villages. Now, in the storage corporations, the local people will be able to get employment opportunities both in the contract and permanent way in the posts of caretaker, operator, and Babu.
