Lucknow: Theburden on the pockets of liquor enthusiasts in Uttar Pradesh is going to increase. From today i.e. Thursday, a 90 ml pack of English wine i.e. small pack will become expensive from 10 to 40 rupees. In fact, the state government has imposed a duty of Rs 10 on a 90 ml pack of regular and premium brands, Rs 30 on super premium brands and Rs 40 on imported brands.

According to Additional Principal Secretary Excise Sanjay Bhoosreddy, after this order of the state government, there has been an increase of Rs 10 on a 90 ml english liquor bottle and Rs 20 on a 90 ml bottle of super premium, Rs 30 on Scotch and Rs 40 on a 90 ml bottle of English liquor coming from abroad. The Yogi government has changed some of the provisions of the Excise Policy 2022-23. In an order sent to the Excise Commissioner, Special Secretary, Excise Department, Nidhi Gupta Vats said that special additional duty is being levied on select bottles of English liquor keeping in view the revenue and public interest of the state.

This fee is applicable up to 90 ml bottles, i.e. the prices of 60 and 90 ml english liquor have increased. With the imposition of special additional charges, the price of English liquor has gone up by Rs 10 to Rs 40. The price hike is effective only on 60 and 90 ml bottles, the prices of the big bottles will remain the same.
