Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a big decision regarding homeless animals. Under this, the Yogi government has ordered to register an FIR against those farmers who leave the cows destitute when they stop giving milk. In the Yogi government, Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh said on Monday (30 May 2022) that a case will be registered against such farmers under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Responding to the question asked by Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Awadhesh Prasad during the Question Hour in the Assembly, he said, 'There is a duty between the butcher and the farmer. We will take care of the farmers, not the butchers. Those who abandon their animals will be booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Prasad had asked the government about their plan regarding the problem of stray animals and compensation to those killed due to them. In response, the minister said, 'These are not stray cattle, but they have been released. Everyone knows who left them. When a cow gives milk it is kept and when it stops giving milk it is left destitute.
