Mathura: A complete ban on the sale of liquor in the area around Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, the city of Shri Krishna, has been imposed today i.e. June 1. With this, 37 shops of liquor, beer and cannabis will be locked from today. Since then, alcohol will not be sold in the entire area. Along with this, the bars and two model shops of 3 hotels in the city will also be closed from today.  

On September 10 last year, state CM Yogi Adityanath had announced that liquor and meat would not be sold in the 10 sq km area around The Sri Krishna Janmasthan. They had imposed this ban while declaring Mathura as a place of pilgrimage. At the same time, the sale of meat had stopped from the next day of CM Yogi's order, but the liquor shops were still running. From today, 10 shops of English liquor, 10 of country liquor, 10 of beer and 7 of cannabis have been ordered to be closed in the city operating so far.

At the same time, on the lines of Mathura, the government has also taken a big step regarding liquor shops in Ramnagari Ayodhya. Under which, the licenses of all liquor shops falling in the Ram temple area have been cancelled. During the Question Hour in the UP Legislative Council, state Excise Minister Nitin Agarwal said that the licences of all liquor shops falling in the Ram temple area in Ayodhya have been cancelled. The Excise Minister has informed that the Number and Status of Excise Shops Rules, 1968 have been framed. It is amended from time to time as per requirement.
