Lucknow: The Yogi government has taken a major step in promoting the incident of assault on a Muslim elderly man in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, by giving communal colour. The state government has lodged an FIR against Twitter in view of the case. Reportedly, 8 others have also been booked in the case.

The Yogi government has alleged on social media platforms that they did not act on videos shared with false claims while Twitter generally calls misleading news as 'manipulated media', but this was not done in the case. According to media reports, they do not have an FIR in the case at present. But this is the first time that the UP Government has filed a case against Twitter. The basis of the government's complaint is that even after the police told the truth, Twitter did not tag the manipulated media on the video and misleading tweets continued to be promoted.

Social media users are reacting to the Yogi government's decision on Twitter. Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Umraon writes, "In view of the tweets that followed the Loni incident, the Yogi government has filed a case against Twitter and said twitter could not tag the manipulated media on such tweets. The Maharaja has shown how the punishment should be.?
