Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has allowed Durga Puja to be celebrated with security protocols during the Corona pandemic. Now, during Navratri, organizers can hold religious or cultural events in the open, provided they have to follow all the guidelines of the Corona epidemic, such as following the social distancing and wearing masks.
In view of this, only 50 percent and a maximum of 200 people will be allowed to join the Durga Pooja celebrations. While the new guidelines will come into effect on October 15, Navratri begins on October 17. The government's decision has added enthusiasm to the Durga Pooja Samitis, which has already been in the preparations for the festival.
Anand Banerjee, a Durga Pooja Samiti member in the Jankipuram area, said, "We spent the entire night of Thursday planning Durga pooja programs as we have less than 15 days. We are grateful to the CM for allowing Durga puja celebrations." Samajwadi Party and Congress had urged the CM to allow Durga Puja pandals to organize puja in the state.
