Record procurement of wheat in UP, Yogi govt pays Rs 111.41 crore to 13 lakh farmers

Lucknow: During the current Rabi Marketing Session 2021-22 in Uttar Pradesh, a record quantity of 56.41 lakh MT of wheat was procured from 12.98 lakh farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP). This is the highest ever procurement of wheat in the history of the state. A total of Rs. 11,141.28 crore has been paid as MSP to the farmers of the State. The procurement in the current session has increased by 58% over the rabi marketing session 2020-21. 35.77 lakh MT of wheat was procured from 6.64 lakh farmers that year.

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution has informed that there was a record procurement of paddy during Kharif marketing session 2020-21 in UP. During Kharif marketing session 2020-21, a record procurement of 66.84 lakh MT of paddy was made from 10.22 lakh farmers of UP. This is the highest ever procurement of paddy in the history of the state. It may be noted here that procurement of wheat has been completed in most of the States procuring wheat for the current Rabi Marketing Session (RMS 2021-22). As of 8th July 2021, 433.32 lakh MT of wheat has been procured (the highest ever procurement level, as it has crossed the 2020-21 high of 389.92 lakh MT of wheat procurement figures RMS).

387.50 lakh Metric Tonnes of wheat were procured during the same period last year. 85,581.02 crore has been paid to 49.16 lakh farmers in the current Rabi Marketing Session at MSP prices.
