Yogi govt to implement Mukhyamantri Accident Insurance Scheme

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government had promised social security to registered workers of the unorganized sector in the state during the Corona period. The government has now taken steps in this direction as well. The Yogi government in UP has provided maximum financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for registered workers in the unorganized sector under the Mukhyamantri Accident Insurance Scheme in case of accidental death and disability of the worker.

CM Yogi Adityanath had directed the unorganized sector registered workers to implement the scheme to provide social security. An order has been issued by Additional Chief Secretary Shram on the scheme. According to officials, assistance will be provided in six categories under the scheme. According to the information, the assistance will be payable in six categories which will be borne by the State Government. Under this, 100 per cent in case of death or total disability, 100 per cent on the loss of both hands or both legs or both eyes, 100 per cent on the loss of one hand or one leg, 50 per cent for losing one hand or one leg or one eye, more than 50 per cent of permanent disability but 50 per cent for less than 100 per cent and permanent disability at 25 per cent, But if it is less than 50 per cent, 25 per cent of the amount will be payable.

The worker or his/her family will have to apply online on the Uttar Pradesh state social security board portal within 30 days for benefits under the scheme. The application can also be made by reaching the labour office of the district. The order says that an inquiry will be conducted on the application within a week. At present, the number of unorganized sector workers in UP is close to 4.5 crores.
