LUCKNOW: Yogi Adityanath's government in Uttar Pradesh is considering a proposal to set up a planning board on the lines of a Metropolitan Board for Lucknow.

The chief minister has directed officials to establish a board due to Lucknow's growing population and uncontrolled city expansion. He said, the region governed by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) should be formally increased, for which a suitable Board will be needed.

According to a government spokeswoman, there are 45 lakh people living within the boundaries of the LDA, and the city is continuing to grow erratically and needs to be stopped.

Yogi Adityanath has pushed for the development authorities' property transfer procedure to be made simpler. He said that even if the current conversion charge is 1% of the asset in question, it needs to be decreased and the current, complicated process needs to be streamlined. He further stated that the mutation cost should not exceed Rs 5,000 in the case of legal succession or the execution of a will under the jurisdiction of the housing department. Depending on the cost of the freehold or gift property, a maximum fee of Rs 10,000 should be levied.
