If you are bored of eating simple khichdi at home and want to try something new, then butter khichdi can be a great option. This dish is not only tasty but also easy to make. Learn here how to make special butter khichdi:

Material:

  • 1 cup moong dal
  • 1 cup rice
  • 2-3 finely chopped green chillies
  • 1 inch grated ginger
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • a pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • salt to taste
  • 2-3 tbsp ghee
  • fresh finely chopped coriander leaves
  • Lemon juice

Butter Khichdi Recipe:

  1. Washing and soaking: Firstly, wash the moong dal and rice thoroughly. Then soak them in water for some time.

  2. Cooking in a cooker: Now put the soaked lentils and rice in a cooker. Add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder and salt to it. Keep the amount of water a little more. Close the cooker and cook till 3-4 whistles.

  3. Ghee Tadka: Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. When the cumin seeds crackle, add green chillies and grated ginger. If desired, you can also add onions or tomatoes.

  4. Mixing spices: Add the roasted spices in the pan to the cooker and mix them well.

  5. Serving: Transfer the butter khichdi to a bowl. Sprinkle finely chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice on top.

Things to note:

  • Vegetables: If you want, you can also add vegetables of your choice to the khichdi.
  • Curd: You can also serve curd with khichdi.
  • Ghee or butter: To enhance the taste of khichdi, you can add ghee or butter on top.
