New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday lashed out at Twitter for not taking action against those who commented against Hindu gods and goddesses. The court has asked Twitter that if you can block the account of former US President Donald Trump, then why are not taking action against those who comment against Hindu gods and goddesses? Actually, this matter was related to a Twitter handle, on which derogatory material about Hindu goddess was posted. The High Court raised the question on Twitter and said that it is not concerned about the people and their sentiments of other areas.

A bench of HC Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Navin Chawla was hearing in relation to the post made by the Ethist Republic user name on Maa Kali. Court directs Twitter to explain how certain people have been blocked on its site. Whereas in some other cases, no action was taken even after there was material hurting the other religion. The court asked Twitter to be more careful and sensitive. When Twitter argued that users can post any type here. He cannot block all the handles. On this the court asked that then how did you block the handle of Trump?

The court also said that Twitter's stand and saying that the account cannot be blocked is not entirely correct. Siddharth Luthra, appearing on behalf of Twitter, said that the objectionable post has been removed in this case. Also an FIR has also been registered. At the same time, public prosecutor Harish Vaidyanath said that the process of blocking the account against which the complaint has been received is going on. The court then asked the government to look into the material in the present case and decide whether the handle should be blocked under the IT Act. At the same time, the court has also asked Twitter, the central government and Ethist Republic to file a reply to the petitioner in the matter.
