Today is the first death anniversary of the famous actress of the entertainment industry Surekha Sikri on this day i.e. July 16, 2021, at the age of 75, Surekha Sikri breathed her last. At the age of 73, she won her first Filmfare Award. Surekha Sikri has received this award for the film 'Badhaai Ho.' Surekha played the role of a grandmother in this film. Not only were Surekha's dialogues in this film brilliant but there was no competition of her acting either.  

Surekha Sikri has done many films and her role of 'Dadi Sa' played in the serial 'Balika Vadhu' also gave a lot of popularity. Surekha Sikri spent a total of 43 years in the world of TV and cinema. In this long journey, Surekha Sikri has adapted from comedy to serious in every role so that she became an example for everyone. Surekha Sikri was also a theatre artist. In the year 1978, Surekha started her career with the film 'Kissa Kursi Ka' based on a political drama. Thereafter, she did tv serials in addition to many Hindi and Malayalam films.

Surekha Sikri has also received the National Award 3 times. She also won the National Film Award for best actress supporting role for the film 'Tamas' in 1988 and 'Mammo' in 1995. With this, she won the Indian Telly Award for Best Negative Role in 2008 for the serial 'Balika Vadhu'. For the same serial, Surekha also won the Award for Best Actress Supporting Role in the year 2011. Not only this, but she also won the award in the year 1989 for her contribution to the theatre on behalf of the 'Sangeet Natak Akademi'. Apart from this, in the year 2019, she also won the Screen Award for the film 'Badhaai Ho' along with the National Award for Best Supporting Actress and Filmfare. Very few people know that Surekha Sikri's sister Manara Sikri was married to Naseeruddin Shah. Manara is the first wife of Naseeruddin Shah. However, after separating from Manara, Naseeruddin Shah married Ratna Pathak.
