In Arunachal Pradesh, a youth has lost his life due to lightning amid assisting power ministry officials in Siang district. The local organisation has blamed the state electricity ministry for the incident. The Rumgong block unit of the Jering Matkir Society (JMS) has alleged that late Shanom Jerang died due to "gross negligence of the Rumgong Power Ministry".
The lightning started after an electric wire fell on Jerang amidst the help of power ministry officials. The incident took place at Mori village under Jomlo Mobuk administrative circle of Siang district. The block president of JM Rumgong claimed in a statement that the power ministry had failed to send disrupted power to its officials despite four days since the dissolution. On the 5th day, Tabir Tatin, a line man in the Ministry of Power, who is also a native of the village, helped late Jerang to fix the lines due to lack of manpower.
Tabir Tatin alleged that Tatin forcibly recruited to help the late Jerang and Tatin warned the late Jerang that if he did not help with the work, Jiang needed to follow him late. Informing that an FIR has already been registered at Rumgong police station, the Rumgong JMS unit demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident and compensation should be provided to the family of late Jerang at the earliest.
