Youth Olympics 2018 Indian eves settle for silver in Hockey

Buenos Aires [Argentina], 15 October 2018: The Indian U-18 Women's Hockey team settled silver medal at the ongoing 2018 Youth Olympic Games. Indian eves suffered a heart-breaking 1-3 loss against hosts Argentina in the Final of the Hockey 5s competition.

India's Mumtaz Khan hit for opening in the match after just 49 seconds, but the host side  scored thrice  Gianella Palet, Sofia Ramallo and Brisa Bruggesser played each for a successful goal to secure the gold medal.

India in 49 seconds through in-form Forward Mumtaz Khanscored got a crucial lead but Argentina put the pressure on their rivals to find the equalizer. Host side in front of their home crowd and were successful in their efforts, as Gianella Palet and Sofia Ramallo scored 2 goals and  their side got 2-1 lead at half-time.

The second period Argentina not allowing the Indian team to find space or create chances as Brisa Bruggesser in the 12th minute gave her team a solid 3-1 lead.

The Indian eves scripted a history as they clinched the Silver Medal at the Youth Olympic Games on their very first attempt.

Earlier, Indian Men's Hockey team had also finished second on the prestigious tournament after being crushed by Malaysia in the final of the event. They suffered 2-4 defeat.
