Lucknow: A youth was shot dead on Wednesday night while he was returning home after listening to Katha at Shatachandi Yajna in Khamrauni village under Umri Begumganj in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. The attackers fled after killing the young man. At the same time, the firing and murder incident spread panic in the entire area. On receiving the information, the police took possession of the body of the young man and sent it for post-mortem, and started searching for the attackers.  

Sunil Shukla (23), a resident of Bhoka Patisa village under the Paraspur police station area, had come to his maternal home in Salpur village under the Umribegamganj police station area. On Wednesday night, went to listen to Katha at the Shatachandi Mahayagya program organized in the neighboring village Khamrauni. From there, around 10 pm, he was returning to his maternal home in Salpur. Sunil Sisai had just reached the intersection of Methia village when unidentified assailants shot him dead and fled. When people rushed to the spot after hearing the sound of firing, they were stunned to see Sunil's body lying in a pool of blood. The family members of the deceased were immediately informed about it. The information about the murder caused a stir in the family of the deceased. Crying family members rushed to the spot. By then, the police also reached the spot.

SO Kuber Tiwari and his team inspected the spot. A scar of a hole was found in the young man's neck. It seems that he was shot from a very close range or by sticking to the throat. There are also injury marks on the face of the deceased. In this case, the father of the deceased, Suryakumar Shukla, has lodged a murder complaint against unidentified assailants at Umri Begumganj police station.
