Picture-in-Picture mode is now available on YouTube for all iOS users! It was originally only available to users in the United States. iPhone users can now finally use this mode to watch videos on YouTube while using other apps on your smartphone. When you close the YouTube app, the video appears in a tiny window, which you will be able to move to different corners of the screen. However, the feature is available for a limited time period and is accessible to those who have a YouTube Premium subscription.

To use this feature, all you need to do is sign up for the testing of the Picture-in-Picture mode on YouTube for iOS by visiting YouTube’s experimental features site. The new testing program was first spotted by 9to5Google. Go to Youtube.com/new site, scroll down and click on the “Try it out” button, which is visible under the ‘Picture-in-picture on iOS’ section. The button will not be visible to you if you visit the site without signing in with your YouTube Premium account.  After you've signed up for testing, all you have to do now is open the YouTube app, watch any video, and swipe to return home. The video should continue to play in a tiny window at the bottom of the screen, which you can see. Drag the mini-player to move it around. You may also pinch with two fingers to enlarge the mini-player on YouTube.

Until October 31, the Picture-in-Picture option will be accessible. While YouTube hasn't said what will happen next, it's possible that it may make this function available to everyone who isn't a Premium subscriber, as it promised in June. It's worth noting that since Android Oreo, the PiP functionality has been accessible for Android YouTube users. You will, however, need to purchase a YouTube Premium membership to access this function.
