A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Wednesday to reduce the term of the Andhra Pradesh Election Commissioner. Regarding this, the statement of senior YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu has come. He said that the court has not given a decision in the state election commissioner case, only refused to be in favor of the state government.

Apart from this, he addressed the press conference on Wednesday, saying that the court has asked the respondents to file counter, and the hearing will follow. Ambati Babu said that since morning a section of media has been running such reports that the court order is in favor of N. Ramesh Kumar and against the state government. At the same time, the court has adjourned the hearing for the next 4 weeks and the court will give its verdict only after hearing the arguments of both the parties. At the same, he further said that the pro-TDP media has started such propaganda as if the decision has come and it is against the government. He said that it is illegal to misinterpret the proceedings. Adopting such an attitude by a media class is dangerous for democracy. The YSRCP leader said that if the media itself decides, then what is the need of the court.

For your information, let us tell you that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government had amended the Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act on April 10 and ordered to reduce the tenure of the State Election Commissioner to 5 years. After this, the High Court quashed the ordinance in its decision. The state government approached the Supreme Court against the decision of the High Court and filed an appeal. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court refused to stay the High Court verdict during the hearing in the case. However, notice has been issued on behalf of the court on the petition of the state government.
