India's Yuki Bhambri has made a strong comeback after falling behind to make it to the second round of the TATA Open Maharashtra Tennis Tournament. At the same time, Prajnesh Gunneswaran has already been knocked out in the round. The 29-year-old Yuki, who made a direct entry into the main draw of South Asia's only ATP 250 competition, has defeated Slovakia's Jozef Kowalic 6-7, 6-2, 7-5. Yuki has recently returned to the international circuit after a break of 2 years due to injury. Prajnesh lost 6-7, 6-2 at the hands of Germany's Daniel Altmaier. Quentin Helis of France, ranked 141st in the world, has also made a big comeback by defeating 82nd-ranked Ricardus Bernakis of Lithuania 6-1, 6-2. Radu Albot of Moldova defeated Italy's Federico Gaio 6-2, 7-6.

Earlier, Indian tennis player Yuki Bhambri's journey to the Australian Open qualifiers has come to an end. The 29-year-old Yuki has suffered a defeat at the hands of Thomas Machak of the Czech Republic in the second round. Bhambri has been defeated 1-6, 3-6 in straight sets at the hands of Machak. With this, India's challenge also ended and no Indian player could find a place in the singles main draw.

Bhambri appeared completely helpless in front of the 20th ranked Machak and has not posed the slightest challenge. Machak reached a career-high ranking of 131 on November 8, 2021. Making an impressive comeback on the tennis court, Bhambri has also started with a win in the Australian Open qualifiers. Bhambri, who is returning to the Grand Slam level after the US Open 2018 due to a knee injury, defeated Portugal's world number 248 Joao Dominiges 6-4, 6-2 in a match that lasted 1 hour and 8 minutes. Among the other players, Ramkumar Ramanathan lost in the first round of the men's singles event while in the women's singles, Ankita Raina was defeated 6-1, 6-0 in just 50 minutes by Ukraine's Lesia Tsurenko.
