Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir was accused of misogyny, casteism and distributing derogatory pamphlets against Aam Aadmi Party’s East Delhi candidate Atishi. Former and veteran cricketers have come forward to defend Gambhir’s character after sharing the Indian dressing room with him for many years. After Harbhajan Singh,  VVS Laxman, Irfan Pathan, and Nitish Rana, experienced cricketer Yusuf Pathan has come out to defend Gambhir in the ongoing controversy.

Yusuf took to social media platform Twitter to defend Gambhir in the ongoing controversy. He wrote that the former left-hander he is a man of honour and won’t do anything to disrespect women. Yusuf wrote, “He is a man of honour, @GautamGambhir won't do something to disrespect women,”

Gambhir has already denied the allegations made by AAP. Further, he has challenged the Cheif Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal for providing proof against him. Gambhir has stated, if found guilty he will withdraw his candidature.

Yusuf has shared the Indian dressing room with Gambhir in two major occasions – 2007 ICC World T20 and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup - wherein Team India won both the trophies respectively. In addition, Yusuf and Gambhir were part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) outfit Kolkata Knight Riders and the duo were crucial in KKR’s IPL winning campaigns in 2012 and 2014 editions respectively.
