While replying to a tweet by Canadian journalist Tariq Fateh, Zaira Wasim said that "her words were misinterpreted". Tariq Fateh wrote, "Indian Muslim actress Zaira Wasim being the victim of the wrath of Allah. She make fun of their own countrymen. In this way, she has described the locust swarm." When Zaira saw Tariq Fateh's tweet, she wrote a long note. Zaira said, 'I never claimed that the locust attack in many states is a sign of the wrath of Allah. To make a statement on any land by telling the wrath or curse of Allah is religiously irresponsible and a sin. '

Zaira wrote, "My tweet was misinterpreted. Any opinion, whether good or bad, defines the reality of my intentions. It is between me and my God and I am not going to explain it. I am only accountable to Allah. The world is going through difficult times, more hatred and bigotry than before, at least we can do it not to increase it further.' Ending her talk, Zaira wrote, "I am no longer an actress. " After this tweet, she has become a part of the headlines once again.
