B-town king Shah Rukh Khan’s Christmas release Zero has opened to unexcited response at the box-office. The romantic saga, also starring Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the key roles, has collected Rs 20.14 crore on its first day. Given the film’s all-embracing release, its performance is rather lukewarm.
The well known Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh taking to twitter shared the business figures of Zero on Saturday. Adarsh wrote on his social media account , “#Zero has underperformed on Day 1, despite extensive release [4380 screens] + #Christmas vacations... Sat and Sun biz extremely crucial... Fri ₹ 20.14 cr. India biz.”
Worth mention here Keeping in view the huge pre-release ring, most film trade analysts had expected Zero to accumulate at least Rs 30 crore on its Day 1, but the film suffered extremely owing to the negative word of mouth that spread like wildfire by the time evening shows started. The morning shows were not ok either and managed to register standard occupancy of 50 per cent.
Following the current trend, Zero will have to fight back too hard in days to come. The film may sustain over the first weekend, but ahead of that, it is not going to be an easy ride. From Monday onwards, the film will continue to exist only on the basis of its merit.
