Kanpur: A big news has come from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. In fact, three Indian Army personnel have tested positive. As a result, the number of patients infected with Zika virus in Kanpur has gone up to four. This is said to have been confirmed by Kanpur DM Vishakh. According to some media reports, the first case of the Zika virus was confirmed among air force personnel on October 23, though 22 people, including family members, relatives and close contacts, were investigated after the first case was received, all the reports were negative.

Subsequently, samples of 175 Air Force personnel were sent for testing and the report came last Saturday. The report confirmed Zika virus among three Air Force personnel. A high alert has reportedly been sounded in the periphery of the IAF hangar and Pardevanpurwa and Pokharapur areas under the maintenance command.

On the other hand, 74 teams of health department under the supervision of experts from Delhi and Lucknow have collected samples of about 204 more people including 29 pregnant women and 85 Air Force personnel from 11,493 households during an ongoing survey in Pardevanpurwa and Pokharapur areas under the supervision of experts from Delhi and Lucknow. Mishra, Additional Director, Medical Health and Family Welfare, Kanpur Division said, "All possible steps are being taken to check the spread of Zika virus and aggressive testing is also going on.''
