Lucknow: Two cases of Zika Virus infection have been registered in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow on Thursday. This has been confirmed by Dr Ved Vrat Singh, Director General of Medical and Health. The state health department has been shaken after the Zika virus hit the capital. The two people who have been found to have a Zika virus infection are said to be residents of LDA Colony Kanpur Road and Hussainganj.

16 more new cases of the Zika virus have also been detected in Kanpur on Wednesday. 105 cases of the Zika virus have been registered in Kanpur so far. Two pregnant women are among the 16 new patients. On the other hand, a case of the Zika virus was also reported recently in the Kannauj district of UP. The person who was confirmed to have the Zika virus is 45 years old. He was staying in a Kasamau village in the Shivrajpur area of Kanpur. In this case, 30 samples were sent for testing by the Health Department of Kannauj. After which the victim's investigation report has come out positive. The administration has been on high alert after the matter came to light.

Zika is a mosquito-borne virus transmitted by the bite of a mosquito called Aedes Aegypti. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Aedes mosquitoes usually bite during the day. It is the same mosquito that also spreads Dengue, Chikungunya. Although Zika virus infection is not a serious disease for most people, it can be fatal for pregnant women, especially for the fetus.
