Zurich Airport has received the contract to build Jewar Airport. The bid is won by beating the Adani Group and DIAL at Zurich Airport. Jewar Airport is to be built in 5000 hectares. Once fully built, it may be the largest airport in India. For this, the district administration has also taken possession of Yamuna Authority by acquiring more than 84 percent land. Apart from this, the process of district administration is going on to acquire the remaining land.

Noida International Airport Limited (Niall) on 30 May had floated tenders for Jewar Airport. The last date for buying and submitting the tender was 30 October. 4 companies submitted tenders in it. This includes Delhi International Airport Limited, Zurich Airport International AG of Switzerland, Adani Enterprises Limited of Adani Group and Anchorage Infrastructure Investment Holding Limited.

Officials made that Jewar Airport will be the largest airport in India after it is built. The company, headquartered in Switzerland, bid the highest per passenger for Jewar Airport. Zurich Airport bid Rs 400.97 per trip, DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited) 351, Adani Enterprises 360 and Anchorage Infrastructure Investment Holding bid 205.

29,560 crores will cost
Jewar Airport will be named Noida International Greenfield Airport. Shailendra Bhatia, the nodal officer of this project, said that when the airport is fully built, it will be spread over 5,000 hectares. It will cost 29,560 crore rupees.

First phase to be completed by 2023
NIAL had issued a global tender on May 30 this year to build Jewar Airport. Jewar Airport will be the third airport in NCR after Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport and Ghaziabad's Hindon Airport. It will have 6 to 8 runways, which will be the highest among Indian airports. The first phase of the airport will be spread over 1,334 hectares and will cost Rs 4,588 crore. Officials said the first phase is expected to be completed in 2023.
