New Delhi:  Justice Satish Chandra Sharma today took oath as Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. Lt. Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena administered the oath to justice Sharma at a ceremony conducted in the Raj Niwas.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi,  Chief Secretary of Delhi, and a number of judges of Delhi High Court among others were present on the occasion.

Satish Chandra Sharma, the chief justice of the Telangana High Court, was recently transferred to the Delhi High Court, as announced by the central government.

On June 19, 2022, the Ministry of Law and Justice released a notification in this regard. It stated that, in accordance with the authority granted by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Indian Constitution, the President is pleased to appoint Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court and to direct him to assume responsibility for the office of the Chief Justice.

Justice Sharma has previously held the position of Karnataka High Court's Acting Chief Justice. In the Madhya Pradesh High Court, where he previously worked, he was appointed as an additional judge on January 18, 2008, and then a permanent judge on January 15, 2010.
