JHABUA: May be call it grammatical mistake or intentional done, a slogan painted on the wall for the government’s cleanliness drive angered people as the sentence implied death  threats to people defecating in the open.The incident reported at Meghnagar of Jhabua district in Madhya Pradesh.

“Agar karoge khule mein shouch, jaldi di jayegi maut” (if you defecate in open, you will be awarded death soon) was the message painted on a wall near Sai Square in Meghnagar along with a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi and his spectacles.

Local people started clicking photographs of the message, recorded video clips and escalated the matter to authorities concerned who admitted their mistake and tweaked the sentence to “Agar karoge khule mein shouch, jaldi ho jayegi maut” (if you defecate in the open, you will be dead soon).

Meghnagar CMO Pramod Toshniwala said, “It was a mistake, which we had corrected.” Recently, a video clip went viral in which officials were seen beating an old man in Ujjain for defecating in the open. Three municipal staff were suspended .

Congress’ Meghnagar block president Yamina Sheikh said, “Cleanliness is important, but what kind of message is this? Now they (BJP) are threatening people. Congress will oppose such decisions.” Socialist Rajesh Bairagi said, “This is a Talibani law.”
