Maria Christian, 32, wife and mother of two from Miami-Dade County, died on Wednesday after experiencing a “medical episode” during an abdominoplasty procedure that stopped her heart. The procedure is also known as a “tummy tuck.”

The incident occurred on Wednesday at Vanity Cosmetic Surgery, West Miami. It’s not clear at this time what turned the procedure fatal. Christian is survived by her husband and two kids, aged 12 and 2.

Christian’s grieving sister accused the cosmetic surgery center saying, “It’s just sad that her kids get left without a mother because they don’t do their job the way it’s supposed to be done,” said Carolina Flor. “They just don’t care. They just bring people in and out, in and out. She was young, healthy, worked out,” she said. “So I don’t understand how her heart could have stopped.” Christian was rushed to a hospital after her heart stopped, but she didn’t make it.
